Kathmandu: Moti Dugar, Chairman of Century Group (Dugar Spices) and former Minister, along with his family, has contributed Rs. 10.1 million (Rs. 1 crore 1 lakh) to support relief and rescue efforts for citizens affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.
The Dugar family donated Rs. 5.1 million in cash to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and provided relief materials and food supplies worth Rs. 5 million, bringing the total contribution to Rs. 10.1 million.
On Thursday, Dugar handed over the donation cheque to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Speaking after the handover, he said that humanity and collective solidarity are the greatest needs during times of natural disasters.
Dugar noted that the floods in the Bhotekoshi region had caused irreparable losses to many Nepali families, emphasizing that, alongside the government, the private sector, business community, and the general public should also contribute according to their capacity. He stressed that in times of crisis, not only financial assistance but also relief supplies, food support, volunteer services, and efforts to boost the morale of affected communities are equally important.
He said that Century Group had already mobilized immediate relief assistance and pledged to continue extending support as needed in the coming days. Dugar also announced that he would personally visit the flood-affected areas within the next few days to assess the damage and launch additional humanitarian assistance programs based on the needs of local communities.
A former Member of Parliament and former Minister, Dugar has long been actively involved in social and humanitarian initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdowns, he distributed food and relief materials to thousands of underprivileged families. Continuing his longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes during times of natural disasters and crises, Dugar has once again stood in solidarity with the victims of the Bhotekoshi floods through this significant contribution to the ongoing relief campaign.
