Bill on National Forensic Science Laboratory passed

Kathmandu, Sept 30: The House of Representatives has passed the ‘National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2083 BS’.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, a proposal seeking passage of the Bill by Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahabir Pun, was unanimously passed. The ‘National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2083’, has originated in the National Assembly,

Presenting the proposal, Minister Pun said that the bill had to be introduced to make DNA testing faster and more effective and to expand such services to the provincial level. The bill contains provisions, among others, to ensure that data is not released without authorization.

Earlier, MPs Shobha Khanal, Basumaya Tamang, Manju Bhusal, Ganga Lakshmi Awal, Sushila Dhakal Acharya, Tek Bahadur Shakya, Pramila Kuluju, Harimohan Bhandari, Janak Singh Dhami, Pukar Bam, Nita Ghatani, Yeshuda Kumari Baral, Guru Prasad Baral, Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma, Sajida Khatun Siddique and Lekhjung Thapa participated in the discussion on the proposal and expressed their views.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives will be held at 11:00 am tomorrow, or Thursday.(RSS)
