Kathmandu, Oct 3: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has left for Washington, D.C., leading a Nepali delegation for a two-day visit at the invitation of World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.
During the visit, Minister Wagle will hold discussions with senior officials of the World Bank, the US Department of the Treasury and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), as well as leading private-sector investors.
According to the Finance Ministry, discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, reconstruction, Nepal’s efforts to exit the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list and broader economic reforms.
Minister Wagle is also scheduled to discuss additional support for the reconstruction and resilient development of physical and economic infrastructure damaged by the August 26 Bhotekoshi flash floods with representatives of the World Bank and the US government.
The delegation will also explore initiatives to increase investment from development partners and the private sector in major infrastructure projects, including roads and electricity transmission lines, with the aim of creating employment and expanding economic opportunities.
