Kathmandu: Dr. Chandrakant Bhandari and Pradeep Paudel are leading in the vote count for the posts of Vice-President and General Secretary, respectively, under the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. According to the latest results after 147 votes were counted, Bhandari is ahead in the open Vice-President category, while Paudel leads in the open General Secretary category.
In the open Vice-President category, Dr. Chandrakant Bhandari has received 72 votes. Govinda Bhattarai has secured 54 votes, while Engineer Madhu Acharya has received 52 votes. Surendra Raj Pandey has obtained 41 votes, Dhan Raj Gurung 28, Deepak Giri 21, and Prof. Dr. Chandramohan Yadav 13 votes.
In the inclusive Vice-President category, Binod Kumar Chaudhary has received 47 votes, followed by Jeevan Pariyar with 42 votes. Sita Gurung has secured 21 votes, Farmullah Mansur 17, and Ranjit Karna 8 votes.
For the open General Secretary post, Pradeep Paudel is leading with 98 votes. Amar Singh Pun Magar has received 51 votes, Uday Shumsher Rana 45, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma 31, Gururaj Ghimire 24, Nain Singh Mahar 19, Dr. Santosh Upadhyay 6, and Shankar Tiwari 2 votes.
In the women’s General Secretary category, Mahalaxmi Upadhyay (Dina) is leading with 70 votes. Dr. Dila Sangraula (Pant) has received 61 votes, while Rita Khanal has secured 17 votes.
The vote counting is still underway, and the candidates’ vote totals may change as further ballots are counted. According to the latest figures, Bhandari leads in the open Vice-President category, Paudel in the open General Secretary category, and Upadhyay (Dina) in the women’s General Secretary category.
