Kathmandu, Sept 2:The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled to take place at Singha Durbar at 1 pm today.
The Lower House of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to discuss the losses caused by the catastrophic flash floods along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors on August 26, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
The agenda for today’s meeting includes the presentation of a ‘special proposal’ by Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal.
During the meeting, the Speaker is likely to express deep sorrow over the tragic disaster that claimed the lives of scores of Nepali and foreign nationals and caused widespread destruction in districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and Gorkha.
The proposal will also extend condolences to the bereaved families, wish eternal peace for those who lost their lives and express wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
It will call for the proper rehabilitation of those rendered homeless by the devastating disaster.
Issues related to the Bhotekoshi flood, search and rescue efforts, relief distribution and rehabilitation are also expected to figure during the meeting.
Meanwhile, the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the HoR will meet at 9:30am today to discuss the impact of the Bhotekoshi flood on the country’s tourism sector.
Likewise, the Legislative Management Committee will convene at 12:15 pm for clause-wise deliberations on a bill concerning the restoration of provisions of the Special Service Act, 2042 BS. #rss
