Kathmandu: The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has provided a $200,000 Major Catastrophe Grant, equivalent to approximately NPR 30.8 million, to support families affected by the devastating floods and potential glacial lake outburst in the Nepal–China border region.

The grant will be mobilized through local Lions Clubs to provide affected families with food, safe shelter, healthcare and other essential supplies. The assistance will also support rehabilitation, reconstruction and long-term recovery programs in communities affected by the disaster.

Lions International Director Rajan Lamsal said that the speed of relief is crucial during a disaster and reaffirmed Lions’ global commitment to supporting affected communities. He stressed the need for cooperation among government agencies, social organizations, donors and the public to make relief efforts more effective.

“When disaster strikes, help cannot wait-the beginning of help starts with you,” Lamsal said.

Lions Clubs International and LCIF have pledged to continue supporting affected communities, from immediate emergency relief to long-term reconstruction and recovery. The assistance is expected to provide not only relief but also hope and an opportunity for affected families to rebuild their lives.
