Alternative route connecting Kathmandu-Hetauda and new schedule made public

Kathmandu : Alternative routes and a revised traffic schedule have been introduced for vehicles travelling between Kathmandu and Hetauda after traffic along the Prithvi Highway was disrupted due to erosion caused by the Trishuli River.

The alternative routes were determined in coordination with the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, taking into account the monsoon season and the current condition of the roads.

According to Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, small vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will use the Pharping–Phakhel–Kulekhani–Bhimphedi route.

Similarly, small vehicles travelling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will follow the Bhimphedi–Kulekhani–Sisneri–Dakshinkali route before entering Kathmandu.

For heavy and cargo vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda, the designated route is Chapagaun–Bhattedanda–Thingan. Vehicles using this route must cross the Thingan checkpoint by 6:00 pm.

Heavy and cargo vehicles travelling from Hetauda towards Kathmandu will use the Bhaise–Palung–Tistung–Naubise route.

Meanwhile, traffic police have urged fuel tankers and heavily loaded cargo vehicles not to use the Bailey Bridge near Trikhandi in Makwanpur, citing concerns over its limited load-bearing capacity.

SP Subedi said heavy cargo vehicles have been instructed to use the diversion constructed alongside the Bailey Bridge instead.
