Let us make sincere efforts for good governance and transformation : Former PM Karki

Kathmandu, Sept 8: Former Prime Minister Sushila Karki has appealed one and all to fulfill their duty from their respective places for good governance and transformation, becoming sincere, responsible and conscious.

On the occasion of the completion of one year of the ‘Gen Z’ movement today, through social media she recalled the incident when innocent young people lost their lives while raising their voices on the streets and digital network demanding good governance, accountability, transparency, and a bright future.

Former Prime Minister Karki said that on this very day, a painful event occurred in the country’s history, and many young people were injured to the extent that they would have to endure the pain of disability for life.

“During that time, there was a lot of damage to private and public property. Many national assets and heritage were lost. This wound in the life of the nation will hardly ever heal. Such a day should never recur,” she said.

Former Prime Minister Karki has reminded that the Gen Z movement has clearly sent a message to the state and political leadership that without good governance, even a two-thirds majority in parliament cannot provide stability.

“Political stability is determined not by parliamentary arithmetic, but by the character and working style of the ruler.

That is why I expect the government to work effectively to ensure good governance, control corruption, uphold the rule of law, and respect for citizens,” she reminded.

Former Prime Minister Karki has paid tribute to all the martyrs of the Gen Z movement and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

She mentioned that less than a year after the massive loss of lives and property caused by the Gen Z movement, the country is now going through another painful situation after the Bhotekoshi flood.

Former PM Karki has urged everyone to face the disaster with more patience, responsibility, and unity during this tragic time of suffering caused by the flood, to support each other, and to come together to help heal the pain. #rss
