Reconstruction and rehabilitation must be prioritized: Prachanda

Dhading, Sept 12: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stressed the need to prioritize permanent reconstruction and rehabilitation, along with temporary measures, in areas severely affected by floods.

During his visit to flood-affected areas of Galchhi, Dhading, on Saturday, Dahal said the disaster had caused significant loss of life and property and that reconstruction efforts should begin without delay.

“The physical damage is substantial. We must focus on both temporary and permanent restoration efforts, as well as providing relief to those affected by the floods,” he said.

Dahal said the NCP had been involved in disaster response since the beginning of the crisis. He said the party had formed a recovery committee under the leadership of party leader Gangalal Tuladhar, who has experience in disaster management.

He added that party leaders and volunteers had been mobilized in the affected areas. Dahal also praised the Young Communist League (YCL) for its efforts in supporting flood victims.
