Kathmandu, Sept 21: This year’s ‘Madhav Ghimire Award’ would be presented to senior lyricist Kali Prasad Rijal.
The award was established in memory of national poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire. Marsyangdi Bangmaya Pratisthan, established in 2053 BS for the advancement of Nepali language, art, literature, culture and knowledge, is going to confer this award on Rijal. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a copper plaque.
Spouse of Ghimire—Mahakali Ghimire, sons—late Indrawar Ghimire and Rajeev Ghimire, had established a revolving fund of Rs 2.7 million which has been deposited in the fund of the Marsyandi Bangmaya Pratisthan.
The award is presented every year and the cash award is paid from the interest generated from the revolving fund. Rijal has written many popular songs including ‘Kehi Mitho Bata Gara..’
Pratisthan’s secretary Anjana Poudel shared that the award would be presented on September 23 on the occasion of birth anniversary of the national poet Ghimire. #rss
